The Dog & Doublet is mentioned in the Whites Directory of 1857 when John Peck was the inn-keeper. There are no records of any other inns/taverns in Pye Bridge where the pub is still there today. The pub is located near to the Pye Bridge Industrial Estate, which was the former site of Riddings Ironworks and close to the Erewash Canal and the railway lines, so in the 1800's would have been well frequented.
