Pilkington Plyglass, Cotes Park Industrial Estate. Plyglass is a glass processing and distribution company established at Somercotes in 1970. Their main office building fronts onto Nottingham Road at the junction of Cotes Park Lane. In 1996, Pilkington acquired the company which then became known as Pilkington Plyglass.

John Darbyshire & Co. Ltd. Somercotes Advertisement 1966. John Darbyshire begins in Ripley. The company was founded prior to 1932, as it appears in Kelly's Directory for that year listed at Croft House, Derby Road, as an explosives merchantsÂÂÂ. The engineering plant at Somercotes produced agricultural machinery and other engineering Products.
